She has taught second, third, and fifth grade prior to becoming a Primary Reading Specialist. As a result of her dedication and hard work with her dissertation, she was awarded a top ten finalist for the Outstanding Dissertation of the Year from the International Reading Association in 2007. While at Wilson College, Lynn has created an After-School Tutoring Program for the Migrant Education Population in the local communities. In addition, she serves on various boards to help further develop an awareness of literacy in schools and communities with time spent with the Adult Literacy Council as well as the Franklin County Literacy Council. Lynn teaches courses in both the undergraduate and graduate Education programs. Her main focus is in literacy, however, she enjoys child development and cognition as well as best practices in education. Her hobbies include walking, shopping, and of course spending time with her family and friends. She has presented at national and international conferences (Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, Hawaii) and published articles on education and ESL issues. In recognition of her teaching excellence, she received the Donald F. Bletz Award at Wilson College in April 2023. She is originally from the Czech Republic where she taught English as a Foreign Language to Czech high school students and organized study abroad trips to London. After she moved to the United States, she completed her education and worked as an ESL Curriculum Specialist for Northeastern Educational Intermediate Unit 19. She administered ESL Consortium Program, taught English language learners K-12, and provided professional development to school districts in Lackawanna County. Later she worked in the North Pocono School District as an ESL Program Specialist and Teacher. In addition, she taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Marywood University and Wilkes University. In 2009, she completed a Ph.D. degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has enjoyed teaching undergraduate and graduate students at Wilson College since 2018. In 2021, she started an international partnership between Wilson College and University of South Bohemia, and in 2023 she organized a study abroad trip to the Czech Republic and Austria for Wilson students and community. She began her career in first and second grade, where she taught for seven years. After she and her husband started their family, Beth began to work in higher education. She has taught reading classes and has supervised student teachers for various institutions over the past fifteen years. Beth’s years of experience with supervising student teachers has led her to this position of Director of the Teacher Certification Pathways program. She looks forward to coaching and mentoring students as they begin their journey as educators. She has taught middle school language arts and reading intervention, and has also served as a literacy coach, working across grade levels and content areas at the middle school level. Amy’s work at various institutions of higher education has included teaching developmental literacy courses for adult learners, teaching education courses for pre-service teachers, and teaching graduate courses for in-service teachers. She also enjoys the opportunity to supervise and mentor pre-service teachers during their practicum semester in the field. Passionate about the field and future of education, she enjoys collaborating with school districts across the state of Pennsylvania and beyond in her work as Placement Coordinator. His career has spanned a wide range of educational experiences. He has served as; 1st grade teacher, 5th grade teacher, 7th grade science teacher , Middle School Assistant Principal, High School Assistant and Principal, Assistant Superintendent overseeing Curriculum and Instruction, Pupil Services, Special Education, Technology and Elementary and Secondary Services. His higher education experience includes adjunct professor for Wilson College, Duquesne University, Shippensburg University and Wilkes University. He has presented nationally for the Pennsylvania Department of Education and at Math and Reading conventions. Dr. Michael has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in addition to overseeing Graduate Education Program. He continues to remain active in the Chambersburg Community by serving on YMCA Board of Directors, Folium Board of Directors, Chambersburg Rotary (Paul Harris Fellow), and President of the Chambersburg Area School District Foundation. She began her career as a Special Education teacher in a residential treatment facility through Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12. After earning her Master’s degree, Janet served as a Title I Reading Specialist throughout York County. She went onto serve as a secondary Principal at both the middle and high school levels for 10 years. She served as the Director of Special Education at Chambersburg Area School District for 7 years. She has also served as an Executive Director at the Vista School, an approved private school for individuals with autism. She also served in as a Teacher Certification Evaluator for the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Janet served as an adjunct professor for Wilson College since 2013 before stepping into her current role as an Assistant Professor of Special Education in 2023. Besides her passion for educating the next generation of teachers, Janet lives in beautiful Fulton County and enjoys time with family, church activities, cooking, birdwatching, and her special cats, Pete and Oliver. Lori Frey, M.Ed.Professor of Physical Educationlfrey@wilson.edu(717) 264-2678 Davison Hall 127Lori Frey has been teaching and leading in the sports and athletics arena for more than 30 years. From 1988-2020, Frey served as faculty in Exercise Science and Physical Education as well as Director of Athletics. During her tenure as AD, Wilson College gained NCAA and conference membership and experienced a transition to co-education. The department expanded from a staff of one to a department of 40, sponsoring 11 Division III sports for men and women. Frey has overseen the Gannett Memorial Field House renovation, the development of a new 7000 square foot Fitness Center, and the construction of softball, soccer, and baseball fields. She also served as conference commissioner, conference sport-liaison and on NCAA committees. Now, after creating the Sport Management major, Frey returns to the classroom full-time, and serves as the program's advisor. In addition to the administrative role Frey held, she also coached at Wilson for 13 years, stepping down from the helm of field hockey and softball after leading both teams to conference championships and invitational wins with in the Atlantic Women’s College’s conference. During her tenure she coached 10 most outstanding players in the conference, 45 all-conference selections and one athlete still holds the NCAA all division career batting record. Frey, holds a bachelor's degree from Penn State University in Health and Physical Education (now Health and Human Development) where she was a Division I softball student-athlete making 3 sweet 16 appearances as the starting catcher. She also holds a master's degree from Slippery Rock University in Athletics Administration where she served as a Division II softball coach and graduate teacher assistant in physical education.Frey lives in Chambersburg where her family (wife, parents, sisters, nieces and nephew) now also reside. She loves walking her Great Danes, running, and spending time outdoors.
