Wilson College Students Complete Pennsylvania Teacher Certification Program

Wilson College’s popular Teacher Certification Pathways (TCP) program is helping alleviate the national teacher shortage by offering a flexible and accessible path to teaching for anyone with a bachelor’s degree or higher. This year’s class is the largest in over a decade in part because so many people reconsidered their life goals during the pandemic lockdown and decided to pursue a more fulfilling and stable career such as teaching.

Wilson College is the first college in Pennsylvania to offer post-baccalaureate teaching certification in American Sign Language (ASL). This teaching certification, awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), is accepted in most states.

Wilson College recognizes and celebrates the 101 students who earned Pennsylvania teacher certification this year. Our Teacher Certification Pathways program is popular with working professionals who want to earn their teacher certification at their own pace while continuing to work. The program is flexible, adaptive, convenient, and affordable and is open to anyone with a bachelor’s degree or higher. Financial help is available to those who qualify, and Pennsylvania teacher certification is accepted in most states.

Teachers from out-of-state can now earn Pennsylvania teaching certification through Wilson College’s innovative Teacher Online Pathway (TOP). Convenient, flexible and affordable, TOP is for current teachers who want to work towards certification on their own schedules. Pennsylvania teaching certification is recognized in most states in the U.S.

Fifty students completed the Wilson College Teacher Certification Pathways program.

Forty-two students in the Wilson College Teacher Certification Pathways program were recognized at a May 10 ceremony at the college.

When Wilson College expanded its teacher certification program last fall to include an online-only option, it offered a limited number of Pennsylvania teacher certifications. Now, based on current enrollment and inquiries, the college has added more state certifications.

Pennsylvania’s teacher shortage crisis is amping up interest in teaching careers. In response to the growing demand for teacher certification programs, Wilson College has expanded its former Teacher Intern Program (TIP), now offering an online-only certification program and a program for foreign language teachers, as well as the traditional program.

Twenty-eight students in the Wilson College Teacher Intern Program were recognized at a May 5 ceremony at the college.
