NUR 535: Advanced Pathophysiology

This course focuses on pathophysiological processes across the lifespan and development of clinical reasoning skills in understanding system alterations produced by disease. Emphasis is on the etiology, pathogenesis, developmental and environmental influences, and clinical manifestations of major health problems. Regulatory and compensatory mechanisms that aim at maintaining and restoring homeostasis are explored.

 

 

NUR 533: Advanced Pharmacology

This course provides the opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge and systematic skills in the therapeutic use of pharmacologic agents. The pharmacologic treatment of major health problems encountered in the primary setting will be explored. Principles of altered pharmacodynamics will be discussed relative to age, race, and ethnic groups.

NUR 548: Leadership in Nursing

This course focuses on organization theory, management theory and their applications to critical nursing administrative leadership issues. Standards and frameworks of competencies in Nursing Administration are reviewed as guidelines for career development.  Evidence based management and promotion of a culture of safety is explored as a basis for health related organizational development.

NUR 546: Healthcare Finance II

As the second of two courses offered in Finance, this course continues the learning from Healthcare Finance I and emphasizes application of knowledge gained in the first course. Particular emphasis is placed on acquiring the necessary skills needed for fiscal management and budget development and oversight.

NUR 545: Healthcare Finance I

In the first of two courses designed to provide the nurse leader with an understanding of financial management techniques, the student will explore the unique problems facing health care in the financial relationships among hospitals and other providers.   Budget, auditing, cost analysis, capital investment, and equity and debt financing decisions are included.

 

 

 

 

NUR 543: Human Resource Management

This course examines the complexities and multiple issues involved in human resources management in health care organizations. Issues such as recruitment, retention, performance management, organizational development, and employee relations are examined. Federal, state, and professional regulatory requirements specific to health care are emphasized.
