The Private School Special Education Certification Pathway will provide individuals courses to earn their Pennsylvania Private School Special Education Certification. Private School Certification is based on competencies as outlined by PDE and is granted solely by PDE. This program would allow those seeking Private School Special Education Certification to choose classes from a list that meets the required PDE competencies. Wilson College will provide the education via coursework, but certification rests solely on the student submitting their transcripts to PDE for approval. Students who wish to enroll in this program must hold a bachelor’s degree and be employed by a private school. Students will apply to the program via Slate and be required to upload their transcripts and proof of employment at a Private School. Private School Special Education Certification Courses Students will be advised via the Graduate Education Office as these courses apply to the MSE if the student would choose to continue on in that program. For advising purposes, students will need to have submitted their transcripts to PDE and received the official list of courses to be taken. These courses will be either in Theory or Special Education. Wilson College has not made a determination of requirements for each state, so please click here for detailed requirements on all 50 states.
