Attendees will be able to enjoy lessons on writing technique, ask questions about the publishing process, and hobnob with published authors. For many, psychedelics and religion make strange—even heretical—bedfellows. Yet the United States is home to hundreds of psychedelic churches that hold these powerful psychoactive substances as sacred. Drawing on two years of ethnographic research, this talk explores the beliefs, practices, and communities that comprise this rapidly growing corner of America's religious landscape—one that challenges us to reconsider what both drugs and religion are in the 21st century.
