Wilson College is excited to announce the launch of a new scholarship specifically for choral musicians. Any student who wants to continue their love of singing while they pursue their academic and career goals at Wilson College qualifies. Wilson students can be involved in our concert choir (The Cumberland Valley Chorale), show choir (Renaissance), a cappella group (Ten Tones) and can also study voice or other instruments privately with exceptional music faculty at the Cumberland Valley School of Music. There is a small audition to be considered for a scholarship which can be completed in person or via a video submission. Future Wilson College choral musicians should prepare two selections in contrasting styles to be performed for faculty. Audition repertoire may be selected from the following genres: classical, musical theatre, contemporary/commercial music, hymns, or any other solo songs. Please do not select a vocal line from a choral work for your audition. While memorization is strongly encouraged, as it will allow you to perform at your best, it is not required. Students should plan on providing their own pre-recorded accompanying tracks. Students may also opt in to having a short, private voice lesson with Dillon Beede, Director of Choral Activities to further explore the voice and potential placement in select ensembles.Eligibility: Wilson College choral musicians are leaders on stage and in the classroom. To maintain scholarship eligibility, students must: be full-time and degree seeking, maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA, and be an active leader in at least one music ensemble. To remain a choral musician in good standing students are expected to come to rehearsals prepared, lead by example, practice assigned music on a regular schedule, and provide support to other choral musicians. If students are falling short of expectations, they will receive a written warning from their director. All music scholarships are assessed at the end of each academic year and students will be notified if their scholarships are being revoked and the basis for that decision.
