FRN 341/541: Francophone Women Writers of Africa/Caribbean in Translation A study of works by women writers from Francophone Africa and the Caribbean. Explores a variety of topics, including colonialism, motherhood, oppression, exile and the intersections between class and gender. Texts will include works by Mariama Bâ, Maryse Condé, Assia Djebar and Simone Schwartz-Bart.
