Convocation

Convocation brings together the Wilson community – students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends – to celebrate the new academic year.

The 2021 Convocation is at 11 a.m., Tuesday Sept. 14, and will be held in Alumni Chapel, Thomson Hall.

The event will begin with the procession of Wilson’s President and Academic Dean along with Wilson’s Chaplain and WCGA’s President.

Convocation’s theme is Vision, Mission and Values. The speaker will be Professor of Sociology, Julie Raulli.

The ceremony will be live streamed during the event and a recorded copy will be available for viewing afterwards via a link on our website.

The ceremony will conclude with all new Wilson members signing the Honor Principle.

Convocation, from the Latin convocare, can be translated as a "calling together", and defined as a "ceremonial assembly of members of a college or university".

Wilson College has a long-standing tradition of calling together her members each year, at the beginning of the fall semester. Held in the Alumnae Chapel, Thomson Hall, faculty, students, staff and administrators are all called to participate in this important academic event.
