Single Parent Scholars Program

The Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation recently awarded a $540,000 grant to fund scholarships for Wilson College students with financial need through the Stabler Scholarship Endowment.

The Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation has awarded Wilson College a $27,000 grant to support students age 25 and older who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree and need financial assistance.

For the past 20 years, the Single Parent Scholar Program at Wilson has made dreams come true. Ligmie Preval ’09 dreamed of working for a high-tech company like Google, but struggled trying to balance parenthood, a job and taking community college classes.

Wilson College is expanding its acclaimed Women with Children program—allowing single mothers to live in campus housing with their children—to include single fathers with children.
