Political Science

Our political science program provides a comprehensive education that produces well-rounded adults ready for employment. When you enroll in our political science degree, your educational experience will be:

Why Study Political Science?

Whether you have a deep interest in all things government or want to learn more about the ethical implications of decision-making, a degree in political science is a great first step. Our degree program gives you the skills to succeed in various employment opportunities or enter graduate school.

You’ll learn to:

  • Engage critically with social and political problems.
  • Gather information and assess its importance.
  • Effectively communicate ideas through speaking, writing, or visual presentations.

  • Intro to Macroeconomics
  • Intro to Microeconomics
  • World History I (Pre-1492)
  • World History II (Post 1492)
  • American History to 1877
  • American History since 1877
  • Introduction to Political Science
  • American Government
  • Introduction to Sociology
  • Senior Thesis

Electives:

Students must choose five electives in political science that feature work in American government and international politics. At least three of the five courses must be at the 300 level, with two additional courses in history. Some optional classes you can take include:

  • Internship
  • Qualitative methods and social research

Political Science Career Paths

With a political science degree, you can go directly into a career in politics, government or the private sector. A bachelor's in political science is also a great stepping stone to a graduate degree in a related field.
