Campus Safety

Campus Safety at Wilson College

Wilson College is located in a safe residential community within the town of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. We recognize that families and students are often concerned about campus safety. At Wilson, we take this responsibility seriously and are committed to enforcing security policies and practices that prioritize the well-being of our community. Our goal is to provide students with an environment that is as free from risks and threats as possible throughout their time at Wilson.

Campus Safety and Security

Campus safety and security services at Wilson College are provided by Securitas Security Services, a national security firm serving business sites across the country. At Wilson, Securitas provides an on-site, unarmed, trained security officer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These officers perform a wide range of responsibilities, including patrols, emergency response, lockout and access control, alarm monitoring, evacuation assistance, conflict resolution, and security escort services (on-campus and by request). Officers are carefully selected through rigorous background checks and receive ongoing training to ensure the highest professional standards.

Campus safety officers conduct continuous foot and vehicle patrols of the campus and residence hall areas. They enforce Wilson College policies and regulations as well as the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In addition to security officers, trained administrators are on call 24/7 to assist with emergencies that occur outside regular business hours.

Wilson College also maintains a strong partnership with the Chambersburg Borough Police Department, which periodically patrols campus, shares information with the College, and provides specialized training for residence life staff, including tactical training when needed.

Federal and State Compliance

The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act requires Wilson College to publish an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, which includes campus safety and security policy statements as well as crime statistics for the three most recent years (2022–2024). This report is available to all current students and employees and can be accessed here.

Additionally, the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act requires Wilson College to provide all students and employees with information regarding alcohol and drug policies, applicable federal, state, and local laws, and available resources. This information is published in the Employee Handbook (LINK) and the Blue Book (LINK), which also outlines student conduct expectations related to substance use.
