The Wilson College IHSA Team competes with other schools and universities at hunter horse shows in flat and fences classes. It gives students the opportunity to ride horses competitively during the school year.
The Wilson College Equitation team is currently competing in IHSA, Zone 3, Region 1. They do three to five IHSA shows every semester. Wilson co-hosts one home show a semester. There is usually one representative for each class/level.
We are currently competing against Bucknell University, Dickinson College, Gettysburg College, Lebanon Valley College, Lycoming College, Millersville University and Susquehana University.
• Caylin Walp – captain
• Madison Sturla – co-captain
• Julia Tabor – points chair
• Courtney Martin – fundraising chair
• Nicole Downey – treasurer
We meet once every other week to discuss upcoming shows, fundraising ideas, and other important information about the team.
We participate in hunter horse shows with other colleges and universities. Typically, there 4-5 shows in the fall semester and 2-3 shows in the spring semester. At the end of the spring semester, there is a regionals show where riders who have accumulated enough points compete to move on to zones and, eventually, nationals.
Anyone! The classes to compete in range from walk/trot to open. It is available to students who have just recently started riding horses or for those who have been competing for several years and have won blue ribbons in multiple over fences classes.
