Rochelle Plummer Going back to college to earn my degree was no easy feat. As a MA Humanities student, with a English Language and Literature concentration, I wrote constantly. It wasn’t easy. In fact, there were many nights I literally did not sleep. I read or I wrote. I wrote and I read. Many of my wonderful peers in the program had the same experience. We all earned our degree. It was exactly the sort of program I was looking to attend. My professors pushed me past my limits, but they supported me every step of the way. I didn’t realize how much I was capable of achieving. If you want easy, this isn’t the program for you. However, if you are looking to learn, to gain substantial knowledge, or to simply add to the scholarly dialect in your field, then, you want to be here. You want to be a part of Wilson’s Humanities program. Anyone can have easy…I had Wilson, and it was worth every second of my sleepless nights. Christine Ecker Wilson College's M.A. in Humanities program not only challenges and supports my on-going learning and growth as an individual, it enhances the skills I need to be successful in my professional life as well. Susan Davies I am very happy that I decided to pursue the Masters of Humanities program through Wilson College. I chose a special major in childhood languages. I explained to Dr. Cornelius exactly why other degrees, at Wilson and elsewhere, were not fitting the desire of what I wanted from a Masters degree. Dr. Cornelius then worked with me and was more than helpful helping me design a degree that fit into the Humanities field. He was very patient with me and never took offense if I would change what he had chosen for me. I am a former science graduate from Wilson. Due to writing scientific research I, at times, struggle changing my scientific way of writing into an English majors way of writing, but any professional at Wilson is always there to help me. All one has to do is ask. I chose Wilson for my Masters based on this wonderful dedication in the students future from the Doctors and Professors at Wilson. I sometime struggle with understanding in a classroom setting, because I have advanced hearing damage. When I did my Bacholors of Science degree at Wilson I had more support from all the professionals than I could ever have asked for. I am very happy to say this continues with my Masters degree. I can not imagine going to college elsewhere. Travis Horton My experience as a graduate student has been both rewarding and unique. With a concentration in language and literature, It has been wonderful to have the freedom to study literature in a way that is interesting to me and meets my needs as a scholar. Kimberly Maske-Mertz The MA of Humanities in Language and Literature at Wilson provided me with a number of exciting opportunities and experiences that I know I would not have found anywhere else. The program expanded my knowledge and skills in writing and literature, and it helped to instill confidence to pursue my dream of becoming an author. In addition to the many graduate courses offered at Wilson, I also enjoyed working with professors who expressed a keen interest in my work. Every one of my professors became a true mentor, always willing to work with me one-on-one to ensure my success. I believe that this is the hallmark of a Wilson education. As a result of my time in the program, I have enjoyed the honor of sharing my knowledge by teaching writing, literature, and journalism at the college level. This summer I will launch my own freelance editing business, and I am also currently in the process of writing a four-part Young Adult series that I hope to publish in the near future.
